The mural is both an artwork and a work of design. It has emerged as one of the most important and prominent tools of the twenty-first century. Muralsprovide aesthetic value to the building in use as well as the surrounding neighborhood. This revised curriculum examines murals as a special kind of communal design tool, with references to relevant artists and their works. Major subjects addressed by murals include social justice and feminism. Owing to their gigantic size, fantastical use of color and form, they have the ability to draw attention from a distance, prompting onlookers to approach and examine more closely.
